In Spain the traditional family Christmas dinner, normally turkey, is held in the evening of Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, after a long morning walk we went to Las Negras for our Christmas lunch at Las Barcas owned by Bernabe Junior Junior the grandson of the legendary Bernabe “El Cacho” .
We started off with medio raciones of seafood – mussels, clams and the sweet gambas rojo, red prawns local to this coast accompanied by the white wine of Laujar from La Alpujarra Almeriense
For our main course we had bogavente con arroz, lobster with rice which is a posh seafood paella. Delicious and less filling than turkey.
