We can see this large ruin of a farmhouse in the distance from our home.
I went up the track to it this morning for a closer look.
The architecture is typical of the old cortijos of Almeria.
It was built with the local stone and has very small windows to keep out the heat and light.
The little domed buildings would have been for the pigs and chickens.
There is an old well near the house so water was available.
The cortijo, for which I cannot find a name, is in an abandoned state but I like the colours and texture of these old buildings which look dramatic against the landscape in the harsh summer light.
