This morning, in beautiful sunshine, we walked around El Valle and El Playazo de Rodalquilar.
The overnight rain on Thursday night has freshened up the countryside and the spring wild flowers are carpeting the valley with colour.
Near the beach are clumps of brilliant yellow marine asters ….
…. and on the sandy banks at the edge of the shore are bright pink catchflies.
Everywhere, there are great sweeps of acid yellow Bermuda buttercups. This plant, an oxalis, is a very common sight in Almeria at this time of year, and although it’s regarded as an invasive, smothering weed, it’s nevertheless very attractive.
