Cortijada Bornos is an old farm with a windmill which is occupied by a commune of young Germans and one Spaniard. It is the nearest inhabited building to our home (about 2km away) on the estepa near Fernan Perez.
The mill and old stone buildings provide accommodation for humans and there are various ramshackle outbuildings and corals for the animals.
The commune tries to be self-sufficient and they all seem to be friendly and happy. They have goats, poultry, a horse and donkeys. Like us they rely on solar power for electricity (not a problem in Almeria) and have their own water supply.
These photos were taken this morning when we walked past there. If you click on the photos they will enlarge.
