We went to the salt flats at the Cabo de Gata today to study the birds. One of us was quite happy looking at the hundreds of flamingos gathered there through her binoculars but the other was frustrated because he could not take any photos of them owing to the lack of a telephoto lens However, the long stretch of beach opposite provided plenty of photo opportunities.
We parked by the old Torre de Cabo de Gata, a former Guardia Civil post, where colourful fishing boats were pulled up onto the beach.
The light was sharp and brilliant and the fisherman, either relaxing in the sun or pottering with their boats, added life to the scene.
Superb subjects for photographs and for painting too.
