It is now midsummer and by the middle of the day a barbarous sun drives us to seek shade or the welcome coolness of the river. Here is a photo of our neighbours, Nigel and Cher, cooling off their foal, Roxy, in the river below our land.
The hills have changed colour as the grasses and wild flowers have dried up and gone to seed and this has made the olive trees stand out against the ochre backdrop. The River Milanos has changed from the brown torrent of winter and the silvery–blue waters of Spring to a green stream choked with weed but fish have returned to the deeper parts. This afternoon we spotted what we thought might be quite large trout (although they might have been barbel).
We still have the two abandoned puppies, Rusty and Rufi. They are sweet little dogs. Please somebody give them a home!
